The lines
There are five lines which are supported by South East Manchester Community Rail Partnership.
Across all five lines, the connection between major city and rural villages is vital and treasured, linking commuters to their workplace and explorers to beautiful areas of the country for indoor and outdoor pursuits.
Explore the lines and their various stations to find out where your next adventure might take you. Some of these lines also intersect at some stations, allowing for a wider reach and better services.
Manchester to Glossop/Hadfield
Heading east out of Manchester, this line includes some superbly-named locations (Broadbottom and Flowery Field) on its way to Glossop, a market town in Derbyshire.

A major connection between two of our great northern cities, Manchester and Sheffield, this line makes a slight detour via New Mills Central and includes Stockport on its scheduled stops.

Manchester to Hyde & on to Rose Hill
Travelling from Manchester’s city bustle to the more restrained town of Hyde, where six railways stations and a bus station provide ample connections for onward travel. The line terminates at Rose Hill Marple station – a useful commuter connection to Manchester.

Stockport to Buxton
Travelling south-east from Stockport, this line links the city to the spa town of Buxton via various small towns and village on the route. Walkers will likely be alighting at Middlewood station to access the wonderful walks of the Middlewood Way.

Stockport to Stalybridge
A useful connection between the city of Stockport and the town of Stalybridge, the latter dancing along the Cheshire and Lancashire border. Keep an eye out for Reddish South; apparently its one of the quietest stations on the UK rail network.
