National Rail is also a useful website for planning your travel, accessing live departure times and understanding more about the accessibility of each station. 

Railcards

There are a range of railcards available to help travellers access huge savings on rail travel. These include railcards for different age brackets, for veterans, and even for two people who always travel together.

Group travel

If you’re planning as travelling as a group, whether as a group of friends or a sports team, don’t forget that you can can get a discount on tickets. Find out what is offered by the various train operators:

Northern Trains

If travelling with 10 or more people, a group ticket could help you save up to 20% on the price! Get support with your booking by contacting the Northern Trains Group Travel service on 0113 881 4604 or email specialist.sales@northernrailway.co.uk.

Avanti

For groups of 10 or more you can book travel with Avanti West Coast up to 52 weeks in advance with a dedicated group travel team. This provides heavily discounted train tickets for groups for peak and off peak travel.

Crosscountry


Group travel can be booked for Crosscountry trains for groups of 10 or more on off-peak services only. Advance booking with a Friends and Family Railcard is recommended for groups up to 8 people.

Transpennine Express

For groups of 3 to 9 people, a 20% discount is offered for TPE Advance tickets which can be booked online and through the TPE app. Look out for the ‘G’ icon when booking your tickets and make sure that you’re all travelling on the same service.


For group travel with 10 or more people, bookings are made through the group travel team.
