Accessible Travel

The South East Manchester Community Rail Partnership believes that the railway and the stations should be accessible to all members of the community.  We work in partnership with Northern Rail and Network Rail to ensure that our trains and stations can, wherever possible, cater for people with disabilities.

To find our more about the services Northern Rail provide for disabled customers, please contact their Customer Relations Assistance Helpline on the details below:

Trains

All trains carry an access ramp on board. If you require assistance boarding a train, please signal to the conductor before the train arrives at the station.

Access to the trains for wheelchairs and pushchairs is via the doors at the centre of the carriage, usually marked with the disability sign. Many trains have an accessible toilet and space for wheelchairs and mobility aids near the seats closest to the accessible doors.

Unfortunately, mobility scooters cannot be accommodated on the trains unless they can be folded, due to restricted manoeuvrability and stability.

Stations

The accessibility of each station varies. For more information, find the station from our list and visit their webpage. You may also like to visit the National Rail webpage for the station(s) you are planning to use, as facilities and accessibility information is shared.
