Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery

Within an impressive Grade-II listed building on the corner of Wellington Road South and Greek Street, Stockport visitors will find the War Memorial Art Gallery which houses the city’s war memorial – opened in 1925 – alongside exhibition space, with galleries dedicated to contemporary, emerging artists alongside some of the historical greats.

Entrance to the Gallery is free, although there are events and workshops scheduled through the year which may carry a fee. The Gallery is closed Monday to Wednesday, opening on Thursday and Friday 1pm-5pm, on Saturday 10am-4pm and on Sunday 11am-4pm. It remains closed on Bank Holidays.

Stockport railway station is just 10 minutes walk away, while the 192 bus travels from Manchester Piccadilly to the Gallery via the A6, with a bus stop close to the Gallery.
