From 17 May, there will be some updates to CrossCountry’s train services that passengers should be aware of.
There will be an increase in services between the Thames Valley, the Midlands and North East on weekdays and most Saturdays.
An evening departure from Manchester will call at Crewe instead of Stockport to provide additional capacity for long distance journeys to the south. On Fridays, an extra carriage will be added to the return service between Manchester and Paignton, and a service from Birmingham to Manchester and back to Reading, to provide more seats for passengers on a route that we know requires additional capacity.
Passengers travelling on the longer routes on a Sunday are advised to check online for updates as extensive engineering work is planned by Network Rail.
Refurbishment of the trains continues. There are now eight completed Turbostars operating on inter-regional services and five Voyagers on the long-distance routes. Have you been on one yet? Let us know your comments!
