We’re so excited to be a sponsor for this year’s British Street Food Awards north region heat, which is happening in Stockport for the first time ever!
The regional heat is usually held in Manchester, but for 2026 it will be happening at the Stockport Market Place, hosted by the brilliant, family-run enterprise Foodie Friday. It’s taking place on Sunday 23 August from 12pm until 6pm, and everyone is welcome to join.
Entrance is free, with attendees able to taste their way through the 20 traders that have been selected – out of over 3,000 applicants – to compete for a place in the final. A panel of judges will be deciding who will be taking part in the final in September, but members of the public will also have a chance to vote for ‘The People’s Champion’ award.
For those who already regularly attend the brilliant Foodie Friday events in Stockport (read more on their website), you may recognise some of the street traders. There will be food from all over the world available to taste, including from Japan, China, Jamaica, the US, Italy and Thailand.
The event is designed to keep the whole family entertained, with live music and children’s activities running all afternoon and evening.
Stockport Station is just a short walk from the venue, why not catch the train and fully enjoy the refreshments on offer? Craft ales will be available – you wouldn’t want to miss out!
The winner of this heat will proceed to the British final at Peddler Market in Sheffield, with the subsequent winner representing our nation at the European Final in Saarbrucken. Read more about the British Street Food Awards on their website.
