Hundreds turned out to hear which stations would scoop the top prizes in Cheshire Best Kept Station Awards for 2025.
The Awards ceremony, which took place in early February, was presented by transport journalist and rail industry commentator Tony Miles, with 12 Borough and Town Mayors at attendance.
Miles noted that “The dedication shown by volunteers across these stations in Cheshire is simply amazing.” Chair of Cheshire Best Kept Stations, Mark Barker, told the gathered attendees:
“What you do touches many people, including yourselves, because working together on something worthwhile, constructive and shared brings real benefits to physical and mental wellbeing, to self-esteem and to confidence. The pride you take in your station shines out into the community and is felt by everyone who passes through.”
Across the various categories, the stations within South East Manchester and Crewe to Manchester Community Rail Partnerships gathered a good haul! ‘Our’ winners for the 2025 awards are:
Romiley Station: Station of the Year
Marple Station: Best Staffed station
Rose Hill Station: Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) Award
Heaton Chapel Station: TfGM Award – Highly Commended
Alderley Edge Station: Cheshire Life Photographic Award – 2nd place
Styal Station: Cheshire Life Photographic Award – 3rd place
Handforth Station: Railway 200 Award
Sandbach Station: Railway 200 Award

Styal Station: Community Rail Network Award for Community Engagement
Stockport Station: Art Project Award for Views Thorough A Train Window
Reddish South Station: Art Project Award – Highly Commended
Hyde Central Station: CrossCountry Rising Star
