Godley railway station serves the village of Godley, a suburb of Hyde on the eastern side of the river Tame. It is 13.7km east of Manchester on the Manchester-Glossop line.
The station is built over a bridge on wooden stilts, which accounts for the narrow platforms. There is a ticket machine and waiting shelters, but the station is unstaffed and there is no step-free access to the platforms.
The nearby Godley Reservoir, created in 1851, is known for being home to a floating solar power ‘farm’. It is also a popular spot for birdwatchers and hikers who can access the various trails off the area.
