Having grown up through the demise of steam and Dr Beeching’s cuts, and the withdrawal of services through Woodhead etc., disabled access for all is one of Peter’s passions. When the opportunity arrived to help create the South East Manchester Community Rail Partnership, Peter grabbed it with both hands and has been involved with the Partnership ever since.
Peter is a a Member of Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council, representing the ward of Hyde Newton. He has two of the five stations within his ward that run through Hyde and one on the Rose Hill line, all of which are having some issues with access.
Peter feels that the CRP groups are an example of how a few can make a big difference.
