Hadfield railway station is the final stop on the line from Manchester Piccadilly, a journey of about 40 mins from the city centre to western edge of the Peak District. This station is covered by our colleagues at the High Peak and Hope Valley Community Rail Partnership.
Hadfield is a former textile mill town and retains its traditional row of independent shops and cafes that stretch down the hill from the station. The station is a good point from which to access the Longdendale Trail (it starts 150 yards from the station), a long-distance walking route along a former railway line and has a smooth surface, ideal for cyclists and families with buggies.
Also in the vicinity are the charming, Victorian style Howard Park, the Peak Forest Canal (wonderful for a walk along the Goyt river, via the Marple Aqueduct) and Dinting Viaduct.
