Reddish South railway station is one of two that serve the area of Reddish in Stockport, 4.6 miles south-east of Manchester. The other station is Reddish North. It is a stop on the Stalybridge-Stockport line and is one of the least used stations in the UK – for a time it was served by parliamentary services to avoid closure.
The station is cared for by Friends Of Reddish South Station. The group has done stellar work in refurbishing and updating the station. A popular location attraction is Reddish Vale Country Park, built on the site of an old calico printing works, is a Local Nature Reserve where walkers and cyclists can enjoy wonderful landscape and wildlife. There is a visitors centre as well as Reddish Vale Farm, a charming small animal farm that is popular with families.
