The South East Manchester Community Rail Partnership (CRP) is one of over 70 CRPs and 1,200 station ‘friends of’ groups across Britain, all working to care for local stations that serve our communities. We are supported and represented by the umbrella organisation, Community Rail Network.
The aim of the South East Manchester CRP is to represent and support all of the communities touched by – and connected by – the five rail lines within our area. We help them to maximise the benefits from the rail services they have, and are also able to represent them when required, such as helping to lobby the rail industry to change services and improve the stations.
The core staff team are Community Rail Officers (read more about our team below), hosted by Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council, but the majority of the CRP are superb volunteers that are active in their community and care about the rail services and stations they have. Our main train operator partner is Northern Trains but we also work with a number of other train operator partners including: Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, Trans Pennine Express. Our local authority partner is Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council.
